The producers of Channel 4’s ground breaking ‘Make Bradford British’ documentary series want to know the single words that sum up ‘Britishness’ to you.
The fly on the wall series follows a group eight Bradford residents, from various ethnic backgrounds, who are living together in order to ‘open their eyes to a side of British life they’ve never seen before’.
Take the Channel 4 Citizenship Test to see if you qualify for British citizenship, and see how the rest of the country compares. Even if you have live in the UK all your life you may find the test harder than you think!
Channel Four would like you to join in the debate on Twitter. They said:
‘First, login to your Twitter account, then Tweet a word using the hashtag #MakesYouBritish.
‘We’ve got things started with some common notions of Britishness, and now it’s over to you. Tweet your own words, or, if you see one you like, click it to re-Tweet. The bigger the word, the stronger the sentiment behind it.’
Britain is about to change the rules in order to give priority to the “brightest and the best” immigrants who can ‘contribute’ under new plans to cut the number of foreigners settling and applying for British Citizenship in the UK, the Immigration Minister recently announced.
Under the planned reforms “fewer but better” immigrants will be allowed to settle in the UK, with those who lack the skills to “help drive economic growth” or contribute to UK culture facing greater scrutiny.
