The UK Border Agency has published a new version of Form AN this month, which is used to apply for naturalisation as a British citizen.
Also, following a review, the agency has divided the existing naturalisation guidance into 2 separate documents:
- Guide AN – this simply explains how to complete the form; and
- Booklet AN – this gives more detail about the requirements for naturalisation and the way that the Secretary of State exercises his discretion.
Applicants should now use the new versions of the form and guidance documents (dated ‘September 2010’) when applying for naturalisation under section 6 of the British Nationality Act 1981. You can download them from the How do I apply for naturalisation as a British citizen? Page on the UK Border Agency website.
This month, the agency also brought out new versions of FLR and SET application forms for many temporary and permanent migration routes under the points based system.
And yesterday new English language requirements come into force for non- EEA spouses and partners of British or settled citizens or who are applying for leave to enter or remain in the UK.
