premier’s in London

“Caregiver”, the movie, was premiered in London on 7 June at the Prince Charles Cinema in Leicester Square, before going on general release all over the Philippines.
Filipino megastar Sharon Cuneta appeared on stage to talk about her leading role as Sarah, a caregiver (Care Assistant) in a London care home. She chatted and joked with the packed audience, many of whom had queued for hours in the rain to catch a glimpse of the star.
Shot on location in London and Manila, the film tells the story of young mother who makes her way to the UK to work in the care industry, leaving behind her young Son Paulo.
Sharon’s stunning performance was both realistic and moving, and the tear jerking story left hardly a “dry eye in the house”. It was not all downbeat, and there were many hilarious moments as Sarah comes to terms with British culture and reluctant residents.
There were strong supporting performances from the cast of both Filipino and British actors and the ‘ABSCBN’ made film should be compulsory viewing for anyone thinking of coming to work in the UK.
The portrayal of life in the UK was in ‘spot on’ for most of the film, except the part where Sarah boards a steam train, like a scene straight out of “The Railway Children”. I know we have aging rolling stock on our railways, but not that old!
